As the end point of the Broads, a series of scenic rivers and lakes that feature rare wildlife and rich history, Suffolk is a fitting destination for those in need of a break. The Suffolk Coast and Heath have been identified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering a varied landscape that extends from the Stour estuary in the south to Kessingland in the north. West Suffolk is renowned for archaeological finds from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. The famous burial mound of Sutton Hoo can be visited, and treasures discovered in the region are collected at St. Edmundsbury heritage service, at West Stow just outside Bury St. Edmunds. Those looking for AGA cottages to rent in Suffolk have a great deal of choice. There’s the often overlooked gem that is Woodbridge, an ancient town with a great many areas of interest. For those who want to stay somewhere else but still want the benefits of history there’s also the village of Hemley, which is only six miles from Woodbridge and is also close to Waldringfield on the banks of the River Deben. History buffs will find much to love in Suffolk, and can visit sites of more recent historical significance, such as Orford Castle, Ickworth House and Kentwell Hall. Animal lovers will also be well-suited to the area, whether their tastes run to the National Horse Racing Museum or the more exotic Africa Alive! animal conservation park.
